Message from the PrincipalArchbishop Carney Secondary School is a regional Catholic high school. It was built over a three-year period, 1994 through 1997 in two stages. Funding was provided for construction by the Archdiocese of Vancouver and by the seven parishes of the North East region. Our Lady of Fatima Parish took a loan from the Archdiocese to pay our share. We are currently paying off this debt and it will be repaid within 5 years. This school has become the high school dimension of these parishes' Catholic school educational responsibility. Students are admitted to Grade 8 upon the recommendation of the pastors of each of the eight parishes. The admission criteria are quite simple. First priority is given to active families in the parishes who have students who can benefit from the programs of studies offered at Archbishop Carney. Admission information is provided at an annual Open House in mid-January each year. Application forms are made available through the parish in mid-February each year. Parents of Grade 5, 6 and 7 students are encouraged to attend these Open Houses to gather information about the various curricular and co-curricular programs at which the school excels. We are proud of our religious education, and our academic, athletic and cultural programs. Mr. Peter Dawe, MRE

An equally important aim of the program is to foster a spirit of community among families working to create a better school. There is a variety of categories of work participation, giving sufficient flexibility for a majority of families to find satisfying means of involvement. Participation takes place between July 1 and June 30th of each year. There will be an equalization fee for families who choose not to do work participation. This fee will be determined at the beginning of each school year. Parents are required to work a minimum of 40 hours throughout the year. Categories for Participation
