C.W.L. K. of C. Scarboro Missions Scoutisme Secular Franciscans St. Vincent de Paul In Memoriam

To all the ladies of Our Lady Of Fatima Parish

The Catholic's Women's League (C.W.L.) of the Parish is going to look a little different right now! There are few of the current members able to take on active roles as Executive members which would allow us to operate as other Councils do, and meetings have not been popular! We need a break from the usual, as well as new members to be more active again. So, a gathering of some of the most active members decided to take a different approach in our Parish.

We felt that the best option at this time would be to support Parish activities and other Parish organizations in the events of the Parish. To date, we have, as members, supported the Lankan Orphanage Tsunami Society by attending the January fundraising dinner and advertising in the program for that evening.

In February, we supported the Catholic Christian Outreach (CCO) young adults group by donating food platters for the reception they held after their monthly evening of adoration - Summit - held on February 18 in our Parish. This month, we attended and participated in the World Day of Prayer at All Saints Parish - an annual multi-denominational gathering to pray for countries of the world, this year being South Africa.

We also assisted the Parish in hosting the RCIA Rite of Election by serving in the kitchen and bringing goodies, and with the last Family Bistro dinner. And, of course, plans are being made to serve you vegetarian soup and buns in our annual Good Friday soup kitchen on April 14! We have more plans and ideas and you will be seeing us come out for other activities as CWL women.

Ours is a great women's organization that has Provincial and National affiliations that represent the work and voice of Catholic women to the country. We have the era of the government in our annual meetings with them to present the wish list of our members which are done annually in the form of Resolutions. We represent over 100,000 women in the country - the single largest group of women in the country - and, we are heard!

The scope of this organization is very broad with a Committee structure that works in all areas of life, from the Spiritual to Education, Health, Christian Family Life, Legislation, Community Life, etc. We offer much to the members, besides being a group of Catholic women in any Parish.

We want to continue being CWL members and representing the organization in our Parish but, we need new blood to be more active. We do, at this time, ask all women to consider joining CWL in its present form, and, hopefully bringing back the usual work of a Council once again, in our Parish.

The annual membership dues of $22 are now payable, and all members and any woman who wants to support the work of the CWL can drop their dues in the collection baskets in an envelope marked "CWL dues". They are due by the end of April.

Also, look for brochures in the back of the church detailing what CWL is all about.

Pray for us as we do for you.

Yours in Christ,

Our Lady of Fatima CWL ladies.
