Archbishop Carney Children's Liturgy Cursillo Ecole Fatima School Pre-Kindergarten P.R.E.P. RCIA

Cursillo is a Spanish word meaning "short course".  It is a movement (not an organization) of the church that equips and inspires people to be active apostles of Christ by teaching Christian living.  It was first introduced in August of 1944 at  Cala Figuera, on the island of Mallorca off the coast of Spain in the Mediterranean Sea.

Cursillistas, (people who have attended Cursillo courses) meet regularly for prayer, for mutual support, encouragement and affirmation as they seek to persevere in their Christian ministry in whatever capacity they believe they are called to serve supported by and supporting fellow Cursillistas.

The Cursillo Movement now encompasses 5 continents and is estimated to number 45 million Christian followers world-wide.

Pope Paul VI, proclaimed St. Paul as the Patron Saint of the Cursillo Movement on the 14th of December, 1963.

To fully grasp the meaning of Cursillo, it must be experienced.  Descriptive words only limit the perception of what is in essence a voyage of mind, spirit, body and soul in the footprints of Christ.

If everyone would take only according to their needs and would leave the surplus to the needy,
then no one would be rich, no one poor, no one in misery
