Reverend
Father Patrick Tepoorten

Pastor - Curé

Dear parishioners and friends of Our Lady of Fatima, welcome all of you to explore our Parish website, The website should enable more and more people to have access to our Parish happenings. Believe me, there are lots of happenings around here. This is "the" place to be in Coquitlam for Parish action.

Our Lady of Fatima Parish is a vibrant community with a very big heart. We are part of the greater community of Parishes within the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Vancouver, and we are proud of our involvement in various Archdiocesan projects: among them, Archbishop Carney Regional Secondary, the Our Lady of Good Counsel Society for women in distress, and Project Advance. We were carved out of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish on Laval Square in Maillardville, Coquitlam, in 1946. Since that very humble beginning, we have seen our Parish school built in 1948, then our magnificent Church erected in 1958, and the Fatima Centre gymnasium complex in 1985.

We are a very ethnically diverse community, which is proud of its original French heritage. We maintain one Sunday Mass in French, held at nine in the morning, not to mention that three of our six regularly scheduled morning Masses are in French. We are also committed to a bilingual French immersion program in our Parish school. We also celebrate Mass in Cantonese every third Sunday of the month at 2:00pm.

The great "Festival Du Bois" of Coquitlam, now one of the major cultural festivals of British Columbia, began in our Parish Hall some years ago.  It is our hope that similar events celebrating the multicultural mosaic of our parish will one day be a strong uniting force in the brotherhood of Christ.

In recent years, our Parish has been enriched by a stronger presence of the Asian community, especially by new parish families of Korean, Cantonese and Filipino descent. Our "Annual Asian Night" event, celebrated around the time of Chinese New Year, is not to be missed. We have also seen a steady rise in the numbers of our Polish families, and we accommodate them by the special blessing of Easter food every Holy Saturday morning. Come and enjoy our diverse community.

Nous accueillons la participation des Francophones dans notre paroisse bilingue.

Nous vous acceuillons chaleureusement.

Yours devotedly in Our Lord,

Father Patrick B. Tepoorten,
Pastor - Curé

If everyone would take only according to their needs and would leave the surplus to the needy,
then no one would be rich, no one poor, no one in misery
